Ayurvedic self massage

This is my NUMBER ONE self care practice.

It was after a trip to the healing land of South India when I returned to Australia I decided to commit to a daily practice of Abhyanga self massage for 40 days. Each morning I would awaken before dawn and be with myself in this very intimate way.

There are loads of benefits to this massage practice and I recommend it to almost everyone I cross paths with! It helps the body to eliminate toxins and excess weight, it soothes the nervous system and improves sleep, nourishes the skin (anti ageing anyone?) supports circulation; so great for muscle tone and happy organs, helps to balance hormones and the list goes on.

I can also vouch for some more subtle benefits like feeling super connected to my bodys feedback, my digestion, immune system and INTUITION.

For Vata dosha; this is best with sesame oil, 4-5 times a week, try to do it at the same time each day, whatever time works for you. For Pitta peeps, use coconut oil 3-5 times a week For Kalpha; go for almond oil in the morning and let the pace be swift 2-3 times a week.
