Our nervous systems are responsible for essential body and mind functions. Our autonomic nervous system consists of two main branches, the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) and sympathetic nervous system (SNS) which work together as a response mechanism to day to day stimulations.
For many of us, daily life brings an array of stresses that activate the SNS. Deadlines, traffic stressors, advertising are just a few of the daily stimulators that can trigger the “fight or flight” response in your body.
Yoga is a wonderful tool that can be used to consciously create balance through the entire nervous systems. From strengthening the circuitry of our autonomic nervous system to rewiring the deep neurological habits developed throughout a lifetime. In this workshop, Petra will explain how pranayama (breathing exercises), asanas (physical postures) and yoga nidra (creative visualisation) can benefit our nervous systems through a presentation and a yoga class sequenced specifically to balance your nervous system.
